A well-known
Fortune 500 international executive, Read possesses over thirty
years of richly varied experience in global management. He
has a record of leading double digit growth in sales and profitability
while holding P&L responsibility in excess of $100 million
for leading consumer product companies. Read is also a seasoned
internationalist, having managed and lived in both Latin America
and Asia.
Read
has managed some of the world’s most recognized brands
including Right Guard, Green Giant, Haagen Dazs, Healthy Choice,
and Ray-Ban. He has extensive corporate development experience
including multi-million dollar transactions in Canada, Mexico,
Europe, and Asia. At The Gillette Company, Read progressed
rapidly through positions in field sales, sales management,
marketing and general management. He was recruited by Pillsbury
in 1983 to head up business development in the International
Group. Read became the youngest officer at Pillsbury in 1987
when he relocated to Hong Kong to manage the company’s
Far East Division. Read went on to senior level positions
at ConAgra, Revlon, and Bausch & Lomb. At Bausch &
Lomb, Read led his division to triple digit earnings growth,
converting the business unit from last to first in return
on sales and return on assets.
Read
possesses a wealth of experience and a documented record of
success. While his career has been spent primarily in larger
companies, he truly flourished in those roles where he enjoyed
wide latitude of authority in entrepreneurial situations,
particularly turnarounds.
Read
earned a B.A. from Colgate University, an M.A. at Vanderbilt
and an M.B.A. at Wharton. He has served on the Board of Directors
of a publicly owned telecommunications company, and he currently
serves on the Advisory Board of the Agroindustrial International
Group, a leading Argentine food company. He is a past Director
of the Alumni Corporation of Colgate University,and currently
is a Director of Rural Opportunities Enterprise Center, Inc.
